[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style,background-color: #3f4a65;,true][cs=2] THIS IS WHERE I'M MEANT TO BE | [atrb=width,240] The sun peeked in and out behind coasting clouds as Florina sat in the clover-filled grass next to one of the many pastures of Winchester. Behind her she could hear mooing tauros and miltank and braying ponyta farther off. She did rather like this small farming town, though she supposed the smell of the place did leave something to be desired. It wasn't exactly fragrant.
But it was certainly peaceful and charming! The clouds above played little swirling patterns on her legs and she absentmindedly traced along with her finger. The entire town was endearing - the little farm houses and the smiling people and everything! But she couldn't stay here, of course. She was on an adventure now, and she meant to explore the entire region! Even if it was so charming and friendly here...
Florina shook her head, drawing her eyes from the cloud-spattered light on her legs to her friendly new partner. The little eevee was rolling happily in the grass next to her, looking entirely content with lazing about. "So Rosie! What do you think? Shall we explore around the town a bit before we actually head out on this adventure or what?"
The little fluffball gave what Florina hoped was an affirmative yip. She smiled at her eevee, and she gave a gleeful smile back. Everything was going pretty well so far, she thought. "Well, let's see, what can we do around here before setting off?" Florina questioned aloud, pushing herself to her feet and brushing off her skirt. "Maybe we can pick up some food! I have some granola bars and a water bottle for the trip, but that's not real food, don't you think?"
Rosie gave another yip, jumping to her feet herself and rubbing her head against Florina's leg. Whatever Florina wanted to do was fine with her! Her trainer seemed quite sweet from what she'd seen so far. Her excitement was infectious - Rosie wanted to see Noctis too.
Florina stepped away from the wooden fence, taking slow strides back toward town. She'd seen a few wild pokemon here and there, but none yet had approached her. Starting her own team would be pretty interesting too. A group of friends to travel the region with... yes, that sounded nice.
Ahead of her now, however, was the town of Winchester waiting to be explored. This journey was going to be taken one step at a time, and this seemed the perfect place for a nice jaunt.

Purrfection.
The skitty, perhaps one of the coolest cats in town (or so he thought), had already scoped out the strangers before anyone else could approach them and sauntered towards the girl and her beautiful eevee, a lazy smile on his face. He had seen a lot of trainers coming through this town, either to or from the local laboratory, and had learned to categorize them appropriately: those who would give him food and those who wouldn't. Those who would were often most approachable and generally had some kind of furry little beast in tow. This girl followed this particular status quo - with an added bonus. The furry little beast that was trailing behind her happened to be a gorgeous damsel that he took a particular interest in. <Well, hello, gorgeous,> he drawled as he approached the two, his attention angling towards the eevee instead of the girl and his grin taking on a coy little tilt. <Are you looking for anything in particular? 'Cause there's a bargain sale on sexy going on right now, and our prices are super fine.> He winked coyly at her, grinning his feline grin.

A cat-like pokemon was approaching, little pink ears perked curiously. "Oh, how cute! Hello there little -" Florina's cooing came to a quick halt as the pokemon bypassed her completely, throwing his attention to Rosie instead. "Guy?"
Rosie's ears perked up, matching the skitty's interested pose. <Oh, hello there.> she smiled, blushing lightly under her fur. He called her gorgeous - how sweet! She laughed quietly as he talked on, watching as he angled his body closer and closer toward her. <You're pretty funny!> she said, quietly angling herself away from him. He looked like he was trying to dance around her - strange skitty, but kind of cute, she'd admit. <Um. I don't think we're looking for 'sexy' today.> she said, laughing again at him. <I think what we're looking for is 'adventure'! Know anybody with some of that?> she asked.
Florina kneeled down next to the cat, looking between him and her eevee. They seemed to be having a conversation, though what about, she could only guess. "Haha, are we making a new friend, Rosie? He seems friendly enough, don't you think?" she said, reaching a cautious hand out toward the skitty. He didn't look like he was about to attack her, but her uncle had always advised her that it was best to use caution anyway. Maybe he didn't like pats on the head or scratches behind the ears.
Rosie couldn't get enough of that, though.

The skitty didn't seem at all deterred by the eevee's outright refusal. If nothing else, it spurred his interest even more. He hadn't expected anything to happen at first. Sure, he had some smooth moves, but this chick was brand new to the whole experience - it wasn't likely that she was going to be 100% receptive of his attentions. Maybe he'd grow on her some if he stuck around. <Funny and charming, that's me - or at least, that's what the lil' ol' ladies here say.> He shrugged offhandedly, plopping down onto his haunches. <They say a lot of things, those lil' ol' ladies. They usually have some pretty good food. But enough about that - you're on an adventure?> Well, of course she was - what else would she be doing with a human? Certainly not breeding. <That's pretty cool. Uh, I'm not so sure about 'adventuring' myself, but, still, that's pretty cool.>
The skitty glanced over at the girl, offering her a miaow in response to her question. He reached up and rubbed his head against her hand, purring practically on cue. The girl was pretty cute herself. She seemed nice enough, anyway, and he certainly didn't mind scratchings - he enjoyed them as much as anyone else did.

"Oh, you're so cute! And so soft too." she said, happily scratching behind his ears and working down to rub under his chin. "You must take really good care of your fur. I wonder what pokemon you are?" she asked aloud, tapping her finger to her chin. Perhaps she should have asked about a guide book back at the lab - or, well, she wasn't out of town yet. Maybe she could ask around here. There had to be trainers with as inexperienced as she. It wasn't her fault she hadn't been raised in a pokemon-owning family.
<Oh, you don't say!> Rosie said with a giggle. <Well, I agree with them, I think! Funny and charming, definitely.> Rosie plopped down after him, her tail twitching in contentment.
<Yes, we're on an adventure! We haven't gotten very far yet.> she said, looking around as she did. <But look at this place - it's an adventure all on its own! I never was out of the lab very often. This is all very exciting, I think.>

The skitty chuckled at the eevee's enthusiasm. <Well, it sounds like you're having fun already, pretty lady.> He commented, smirking. Following her cue, he glanced around as well, when an idea sprung to him. <I could show you 'round if you want. You and the girl both. No charge. Well, maybe there'll be a charge - but it won't cost ya nothin' but a kiss.> His smirk spread, transforming into a cheeky grin. <What do you say, beautiful? A tour of the town for a peck on the lips sound good to you?>

Her smile slowly slipped into a stretched expression of uncertainty. <A kiss on the lips? That's a bit much for someone I just met! Are you sure you're actually really charming - and, and that everyone says so?> Rosie asked, pawing the ground a little nervously now. They were supposed to be on an adventure. And this guy said he'd show them around - that seemed right, right?
What would Florina want her to do? Rosie glanced over at the little blue-haired girl. She seemed quite engrossed by the little skitty, happily stroking his soft head and scratching at his large ears. She seemed to like him well enough.
<How about just a peck on the cheek?> she asked. That wasn't too much to pay for an adventure, she supposed.

Well, she couldn't blame a guy for trying... right? The skitty shrugged. <Sure - that'll be acceptable payment... for now. That is, unless you change your mind.> He flashed her another one of his suave cool-cat smiles, all pointed teeth and superfluous charm, and sauntered over to her to apply said kiss, quickly licking her cheek. She'd agreed to a kiss, and a kiss she had gotten. If she wanted to return the favor, then she was allowed to do that too. He doubted that she would, though. He gave her a second to decide and then turned his attention to the human girl. He began twining around her thing legs, occasionally rubbing against them affectionately. Maybe he'd be able to con a treat out of her before they set out. That'd be nice.

Florina giggled, prodding her stiff eevee with a careful hand. "Oh, look at that Rosie, you've found quite the little admirer here! He's kind of cute, don't you think?" she cooed, petting Rosie gently.
Rosie smiled up at Florina. She seemed to like the cool cat well enough. So why shouldn't she? She leaned in toward the skitty and prepared herself for the agreed exchange. <Alright, a deal's a deal. Here's your kiss.> she said, placing a quick peck on the cat's fuzzy cheek. He certainly was warm to the touch - smelled a lot like the town, though. Not bad, just quite earthy.
<There you go.> she said, turning her lips up in a small smile as she retreated. <How about that tour then, mister? I'd love to see the town!>
Florina giggled as the skitty weaved through her legs, quite pleased with their new companion's affection. "You certainly are friendly. I bet the people in town just eat you right up!".

Well, he certainly hadn't expected her to actually kiss him. It came as a pleasant surprise when she did, however. His grin merely widened with this sudden transition, and he nodded. <A deal's a deal,> he agreed, lingering long enough to upturn his face to the girl and offer her a miaow in assent. They certainly did like him, all right - he wasn't so sure about how she phrased the sentence, but the people in town certainly did like him. <Where shall we go first, lil' lady?> he asked of Rosie, turning his attention on her.

What had she been talking about earlier, before they'd met up with this tom cat? She'd wanted to go somewhere in town, right?
"I am a little hungry." Florina said, as if she'd read her little eevee's mind. "But I think I could do with a little sightseeing first! There's probably some nice hangout places around town here and there, right? Somewhere people like to go to relax, or to play? I know that Lacunosa had a few hotspots that people liked to visit. During the day, at least. That place was a ghost town at night." she chuckled to herself. Florina crouched down and stroked the little skitty's ears with one hand, reaching for Rosie with the other.
Rosie's eyes crinkled happily at the attention. <Well, there you have it, mister.> she said. <Take us somewhere exciting, and then maybe somewhere to eat?>

The skitty leaned his head toward the girl, obviously enjoying the attention that he was receiving as well. He didn't even bother trying to understand what she was saying - he was far too distracted by the way that she was stroking his ears to notice. When she unfortunately stopped, he very nearly toppled over. He sidestepped awkwardly and eventually regained his balance, looking embarassed. Well, that was rather uncool. He straightened his stance and glanced back at the girl and her darling eevee. Had he just made a fool of himself?
The tom cat allowed himself to relax his stance, not allowing such a trivial thing as losing his cool puncture his facade. <I meant to do that,> he assured them. <That... that was on purpose.> Or well, he tried to relax. He wasn't doing a very good job of it. <... Right-o!> he said sharply, furtively looking around for something to distract the girls with. An idea sprung to mind and he turned towards them with a suave little smirk on his face. <How would you ladies like to get a free pass into the county fair? They have food there. Sometimes you can even get it for free - but you either have to be really sneaky or really fast.>

I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that...> she said, casting a nervous side glance toward her young partner.
Florina let out a short giggle, ruffling Rosie's ears again with obvious affection. "Oh come on now, Rosie. No need too look so nervous! We're on a grand adventure, remember? It's time to get ourselves out there!" the girl said, excitement and conviction in her voice. Sweeping to her feet, Florina thrust a fist into the air and pointed eagerly forward with her other hand. "Onward and upward, right? Lead the way, little skitty! I so do want to see this town."
Well, Florina did seem quite excited enough. Rosie pawed the ground nervously before pulling her face into a matching eager smile. <Ok, mister skitty. Take us to this county fair, then.>

The skitty paused, obviously not having expected Rosie to have such an adverse reaction to his idea. <Well, honey, stealing is such a harsh word. How does ‘prolonged borrowing’ sound?> he asked, offering her a cheeky grin with plenty of teeth. He watched as the girl swooped to her feet and punched the air with as much cheer as he’d ever seen from a person. It was rather strange, but he was fine with it. He was a pretty laidback cat, all things considered. He glanced back at the eevee and shrugged. <She’s okay with it.> he pointed out, right before the eevee agreed to follow.
The mischievous smirk made a reappearance. <Righty-o, doll,> he said, and quickly surveyed the town to get his bearings. The fair was usually held close by to the town spurn tourist activity, but it was still a bit of a walk. It was certainly worth it, however. The fair was a veritable all-you-could eat buffet as far as the skitty was concerned. Now he was beginning to feel a bit puckish. His stomach warbled audibly. He ignored it and began to trot forward, down the dust roads, passing the many shops that lined the streets. The storefronts all displayed some “amazing deals!” for the products that they were selling, which varied according to the shop. The skitty paused every now and again when he wandered too far ahead of them and turned to see if they were still following or if they were distracted by the stores’ displays. He didn’t find them very interesting, but whatever. The only shops he was ever interested in were the shops that he was forbidden from entering due to the shop owners exiling him. Of course, he took every opportunity he could to sneak in and sneak back out with a treat, but such opportunities were rare now. The shop owners were pretty dutiful about keeping him out.
Boy, the roads sure were desolate today. Everyone must have flocked at the fair – which meant that they’d have an easier time of slipping into the crowd and disappearing from the guards. He hoped that there still be some food left when they got there. Then again, he’d never heard of them running out of food. Humans seemed to enjoy it far too much at these kinds of events. They always left behind a lot of garbage, anyway.
All of a sudden, a shadow had engulfed him. He stopped right before he smacked into someone’s tall boots and immediately felt himself tense out of fear, a ridge along his spine raising as he cautiously looked up at the figure towering over him. The man was portly, balding, and reeked of beer. He was wearing stained overalls and a white undershirt. Apparently someone hadn’t been monitoring the town drunk very closely. The skitty hissed. The man glanced down, blinking slowly. “Oh ‘ey, kitty-cat,” he said and leaned down to scoop the tom cat up. The skitty wasn’t capable of fleeing quickly enough to avoid being picked up and cradled in the man’s arms. He squirmed, trying to slip out of the man’s tight grasp. “What’cha doin’, eh?” the man asked, attempting to scratch the skitty’s chin. “You tourin’ the streets? Lookin’ for scraps? The missus sure misses your company, heh. She leaves you saucers of milk, y’know.” He grinned at the cat, revealing stained, crooked teeth. The skitty meowed uneasily, trying to push the man’s hand away with his paws. He didn’t dare scratch or bite out of fear of the repercussions. The drunk wasn’t an entirely nasty man, no, but he was known for his temper. His wife wasn’t as unpleasant to be around as her husband, however. The skitty preferred her over him any day. Unfortunately, he couldn’t see the woman anywhere – which was peculiar, for sure. The couple usually traveled in pairs. Surely she was nearby, somewhere...
Noticing that the skitty wasn’t paying attention to him, he looked up. “’Ey, what’s this?” he asked, blinking blearily. “Issat a friend of yours?” he asked, gesturing to the eevee with the hand that he was previously using to scratch at the tom’s chin. “Oh, you cheeky thing, gettin’ a little on the side.” He chortled. His belly jiggled unpleasantly. The skitty renewed his efforts to flee. The man paid him no heed, readjusting his line of sight to settle on the slim girl. His eyebrows climbed. “Ohh, a twofer? You are sly, my friend. Eh, you sure you want to be wanderin’ the streets alone at a time like this, lil’ miss? It’s… not exactly safe here anymore, y’know. Well. Safer than the city, but not quite so safe as it ought to be.” He glanced from the eevee back to the girl and began to connect the dots. “Ohhh, you’re one of them trainers, eh, out on an adventure? D’jya just come from the lab? The professors are nice people, ayup. I’m surprised they didn’t assign you an escort or somethin’, you’re kinda young to be on your own.” His expression shifted to worry. “I mean, they aren’t as likely to be out snatchin’ kids durin’ daytime, but I’d still be careful if I were you… things are a’changin’, y’know.”

All the little stores with their wooden country fences, and their farm-friendly cozy feel. Everything seemed so spacious, yet there seemed to be so much all at once. Everything on their walk drew her eye, but the skitty was moving at a pretty fleet-footed pace. She didn't have time to window shop if she was hoping to keep up with the little cat. Instead, she hummed to herself, making a mental note of all the places she desperately wanted to come back to for a better look when she had the chance.
Rosie seemed to have calmed down quite a bit on the walk. She too was looking around with a light smile. The skitty didn't seem all that bad, she decided. He was a little too forward, she thought, but Florina was with her. As long as she had her trainer by her side, she trusted nothing bad could happen. <Are we almost there yet?> Rosie asked, as they passed yet another cozy little cafe with sweet sugary smells wafting from the chimney.
She didn't get a response from the skitty. Before she'd fully realized what had happened, a sour-smelling man had grabbed up their guide with meaty-looking hands. My, his breath was certainly foul! She could smell it all the way from her spot on the ground. She took a few cautious steps back, rubbing up against Florina's legs as she went.
"Uhm..." Florina paused as she took in the man's appearance. He smelt like liquor - she knew the smell from her uncle's cabinet, but he never drank enough to get into a state like this man. No, he had certainly guzzled back more than was wise. "I'm fine on my own, thanks." she said, swinging her arms behind her back and offering the man a sweet smile. "I've been told as long as I travel by day, it should be safe for me. I won't get caught out and about at night. I can promise you that." She hadn't really felt terribly unsafe so far on her journey - but she hadn't exactly gotten all that far, had she? So far, this man seemed to be making her more nervous than anyone else she'd met. "I'll keep up with the news, too. Someone told me that would be a good idea." she said quietly, nodding as she spoke.
