A large circus tend takes up the exhibition plaza off the side of the boardwalk. Upon entering, one is greeted by tables of artwork and crafts done by children, random displays made for the festival, and attracting the most attention - tables full of prizes that can be won at the raffle.
So, how about it? Each ticket costs $500.

watch your heart when we're together - - - - -boys like you love me forever Prizes.
Lilith wanted them.
It was no secret that the Houndoom was selfish and borderline greedy. So when she set her sights on all the prizes laid out that could be won by her, it didn't take much for her to reach into her wallet.
A rare Pokemon would be a nice addition to her team. An Eevee could turn into anything she desired - a nice trait, since she didn't know what exactly she wanted from one. The Togepi looked weak, but apparently they had some very special capabilities when it came to special attacks. Not to mention the other Pokemon and potential prizes that could be won.
Once it was her turn in the raffle line, Lilith placed $4500 before her on the counter. "Nine tickets. Make them winners."

. . . . . . . Anton had been weaving his way to and fro through the busy streets of the Trainer Venue for the past few minutes. The Summer Festival was crowded - which was of course, to be expected. Everyone loved the freebies and events that the Noctis Regional Council set up yearly. Anton himself couldn't help but be drawn in by some of the booths they had set up.
"A raffle, huh?" He was intrigued, to say the least. Some of the prizes looked pretty sweet. He had a bit of pocket change to spare, he could afford to blow a few bucks on some tickets.
Galahad trudged along behind him. The little water pokemon didn't seem to keen on the hot weather. Maybe he'd take him to the beach once he got the chance - nothing cheered up his partner like a quick dip in some cool water. Anton wasn't bothered by the heat himself, but the crowds were a bit much for him. Of course, they wouldn't be much better on the beach, especially during the festival...
He bit his lip, his overbite painfully obvious with this action. Maybe he'd reconsider on the beach thing. There had to be somewhere less crowded around here. Maybe just somewhere with AC. He ran his tongue over his teeth thoughtfully as he moved forward through the raffle line. Eventually, he reached the table itself and set down $2500, receiving five tickets in turn. Hopefully he'd get something worthwhile out of this. Words: exp: deducting myself

Nicoletta--
Raffle? Prizes?
The meek white haired girl had been absolutely appalled to find herself in the middle of the festival. The day had started out normal enough, but in an effort to expand her business as a breeder, she knew that her and her Audino, Aleta, would need to go actually gather pokemon to breed and train for contests. Of course, Aleta had instantly suggested that they take a vacation down at the beach, and while they were there, look for rare water pokemon. She had given in, and they had come down to the beach- a good trek for the Winchester-town based breeder, and she found now she had been thrown into the middle of a shitstorm- hordes of people, humans and pokemorphs alike, were crowding the boardwalk city, doing all sorts of activities and eating all sorts of food.
She was instantly out of place.
Wrapping her arms tightly around herself, and pressing close to her audino, she continued to stare up at the sign. She had been working her way awkwardly through the crowd for hours now, seeing no end to it, drawing into herself with each step and wishing she could just disappear on the spot. She now seemed to be in the dead center of the festival however, far from being out of sight, and now was parked in front of the raffle booth. Carefully shimmying her way closer to it, Aleta at her side, she looked at the long table, boasting all sorts of prizes- and two that, after a moment's hesitation, and realizing she wouldn't be going to the beach to get rare water pokemon after all, had her sheepishly drawing out her wallet and producing $5000, she purchased ten tickets, her eyes glued to the eevee and togepi that were being offered as raffle prizes. Oh how she wanted one.

“Come along Six!” Taro called to her dainty looking cyndaquil, she had heard all about the summer festival, it was exciting. Arts and crafts, performers, smiling children! In the city it was always her favourite thing to do with her brother and father, because she got be one of the boys for the day and only go to mom for treats and to have her face cleaned, but there was more that drew her towards the tent that was the prizes for the raffle.
“SIX THEY HAVE A RAFFLE!!” Taro squealed looking at the prizes, the eevee was tantalizing at but the allure of raising a baby Pokémon drew her attention more than anything. Six looked anything but surprized with his owner’s reaction to the raffle he simply sighed and trotted after her. Taro walked towards the booth her left hand digging through her pouch for her wallet, only to realize she didn’t bring very much with her today. “Excuse me but I would like 2 tickets please!” and placed $1000 on the counter.

Alaric raised his gaze up from the behind he was currently oogling at the shouts of a 'raffle' and 'rare pokemon' coming from the crowd around a table in the distance. Standing on his tip-toes, he glanced over their heads and decided that he like what he saw and decided that he too, would like in on the action...
"Oi! So THAT'S what a Celebi looks like!" he shouted a little louder than necessary, pointing in some random direction. A chorus of shouts rose up and the crowd began to run, most headed to where Alaric was pointing, but a few just ran in random directions, to foolish to even look.
Satisfied with his ruse, he strode forward, head held high. "Oh, what the hell... one ticket please..." he said, slapping $500 dollars down on the table...

When one Darrel Mustaine had noticed the raffle, the boy had decided to satisfy his curiosity by checking it out. And while he normally didn't like to chance such things, at the risk of ultimately being left horribly in the dust, Darrel couldn't pass up the opportunity this time. The prizes were so good. An Eevee, a Togepi, among other things. The trainer, following after a Gallade morph, had withdrawn $500 dollars from his wallet quickly.
"One ticket please. . .", said the trainer, placing the cash onto the table in exchange for the possible winner. And while it was an expensive ticket to have gotten, the potential prizes were just that good.

while browsing through the summer festival, poppy had passed this particular tent more times than she could count. and every single time, she had looked at it, curious, but not wanting to waste her money. still, she couldn't help but inch closer every time she passed, so she could read the list of prizes. the last time she passed, she finally gave in and ducked into the tent, ozzy right at her heels. he had taken to hanging on to her laces so he didn't lose her--not the other way around. poppy walked around, marveling at all the possible prizes. the "grand prize" didn't really interest her--an eevee, cool. to be honest she had never been a part of the eevee hype. and the togepi was cute, but cute wasn't what she was looking for. but the rest of the prizes--various other pokemon, tms, hms--sounded like it would be worth it to buy at least one ticket. poppy pulled out $500 from her wallet (which was hard, as she was used to scrimping and saving, not spending it all on one measley raffle ticket) and placed it on the table. "one ticket, please."

$500 fucking dollars for a shitty little ticket."
David quieted down as the mother of a five year old standing beside him gave the morph an incredibly cross look, bringing his disapproval of the information to a much quieter grumble. This disapproval, of course, wouldn't do a damn thing against his habit of getting into things he obviously couldn't win. There was always that wonder of 'what if' that refused to let him walk away from a challenge - in this case, the challenge being a raffle full of pretty damn awesome prizes. Who knows, maybe he'd end up lucky and get that eevee or togepi? Or maybe he'd end up with a pokemon of choice or even a good HM?
Yeah, right. Funny.
David figured he'd be lucky to get a over-ripened berry as a consolation prize. Even so, he knew he'd kick himself later for not buying at least one ticket - even if he should be spending his money on more important things. Idly tapping a finger against his lips, the charmeleon looked over the raffle prizes, consequently gnawing on his fingernail with a conflicted look. Before he could give himself the chance to change his mind, David cleared his throat, reaching into his pocket for his wallet as he spoke- "Just one ticket."
Welp, there goes his money for dinner.
And tomorrow's breakfast... and lunch...

[/div] SO TURN AND FORFEIT He didn't have a damn chance, he was rather sure of that.
Ethan stared at the list of prizes with a frown on his face, mostly eyeing the places that would get him another pokemon. He didn't even really care if they were rare or not, but he needed to get to a full team somehow. He wasn't too sure about the whole find and capture deal yet, but he knew that would be what he had resort to whether he got a pokemon out of this or not. The boy's eyes traveled to the ticket price and he immediately cringed, as $500 was quite a lot for just a little piece of paper.
Especially when all he might get out of this was a hm, tm, or a berry.
Still though the idea of having at least a chance was very alluring, biting his lip as he tried to make a decision. The money could be used for things he actually needed, like food or potions. However the money was out of his hands and in the ticket vendor's before he could even think it through any more, cursing under his breath. Ethan immediately felt like he had made the wrong decision, even as he told the vendor "Just one" instead of going back on the decision.
Oh well... Hopefully he could made the money back in a bit. words:231, pokemon in team: ✖✖✖✖✖

table by california dreaming @ caution 2.0
