Rory had been so eager to join the Resistance, so happy to be doing something to help fight the tyranny of the Night Police and actually do something for the greater good. Sure, not all the people of the Sol Resistance were exactly cheerful folks, but he imagined that when you were fighting such overwhelming odds it could be hard to remain chipper. Especially seeing as he was a stranger in their midst, just given his first pokemon and as of yet untested. Well he was going to change that quickly, it was time to put himself to work!
He had taken a few minutes before he went looking for missions to meet his new partner and find out what exactly a 'Gothita' was, and he couldn't help but be a tiny bit disappointed. His new pokemon looked like a toddler, albeit a purple-skinned one, covered in bows. Sure they weren't actually bows but they sure as hell looked like they were! Still, it only took a little bit of awkward fumbling with the Gothita before they settled on a name and Rory was able to figure out what sort of move pool his pokemon had. Psychic-type at least was cool and he had to cut the Gothita, newly nicknamed Azul, a little slack. Level five pretty much amounted to a baby after all, right? It would outgrow the bow-wearing baby look when it evolved... Whenever that was. He'd figure that out later! For now he just scooped up the little pokemon and headed for the Operations tent, on the lookout for something he could do to lend a hand. He had thought he'd find something simple, like fetching firewood or something, but the missions that were posted were a bit more intense than that. Still, one was about catching pokemon and he needed to figure out the whole battling and capturing thing /anyways/. Two birds one stone in his eyes. And even if he couldn't manage to scoop up three pokemon like the mission asked for he was sure that even just one or two would help out a bit. So he quickly went in for his briefing and was on his way to Winchester Town.
This was definitely where that Arcanine DNA came in handy, he was happy to say. Where it might have taken another operative without some sort of transportation days to make it to Winchester Town from the campsite it was just a matter of hours for Rory. He didn't bother pushing himself too hard but he was still maintaining a speed that an average person could only dream of. He was sure his talent for running would get a lot of use in the Resistance as well, he always made for a great messenger. Not needing a vehicle meant he was able to stay off the streets and pick a more stealthy way to his targets, as well as making him hard to catch. Perhaps when he had gained the trust of the higher-ups, but for now he was happy enough with little grunt work like catching pokemon for other newcomers.
He slowed to a walk as the town came in to sight, looking around for signs of life as he released Azul from his pokeball once more. The Gothita took one glance around before he shifted closer to his trainer, trusting the relative safety of his barely known trainer to the unknown of his surroundings. "Come on Azul, it's fine. We just need to find some pokemon... Fighting them will also make you stronger. We should probably stick to the outskirts of the town, probably more pokemon out here." Rory was trying to be encouraging but it didn't really help- Azul would rather worry about being safe than strong. But his trainer was already moving forward and the Gothita had no choice but to follow, sticking as close to his feet as he could without just latching on and letting the Arcanine 'morph drag him. He certainly wasn't as excited about this whole journey as Rory seemed to be...
